Aloha Region X members, fellow ASHRAE members and friends:
Welcome to our website! It is a great honor to serve this region as Director and Regional Chair (DRC) for the next three years. I would like to personally thank my predecessor, Ms. Karine Leblanc who did a tremendous job leading this region and was extremely instrumental in creating our dynamic region X team! I definitely have giant shoes to fill!!! Mahalo Karine for everything! To the rest of Region X leaders, THANK YOU for your dedication, commitment and hard work to help make ASHRAE great.
Our new society President, Bjarne Olesen presented his powerful theme at the summer meeting in Long Beach, CA. Titled "Extending our Community," President Olesen is focusing on three directives: extend our global community; extend our technological horizons; and extend our value to members.
To emphasize President Olesen's theme, I will work with the Region X leaders and members over the next three years to "promote ASHRAE by extending our reach to a diverse membership, encourage innovation through collaboration and research, and strengthen relationships within our chapters, regions and international society."
This includes strengthening our connection with our student branches and other HVAC related organizations, offering leadership/teamwork training and workshops to our members, and improving our channels of communication. It would be great to see synergy between chapters through program and event idea sharing and having a joint Chapter Regional Conference (CRC). I will make every effort to connect with all regions in my three year term.
Region X receives a substantial amount of financial help from the ASHRAE Research Fund every year! We need to continue to encourage sponsorships and ask for donations to help keep research projects funded and executed.
ASHRAE's membership is growing - we are near the 57,000 mark! Let's work together to increase our membership and continue to make Region X rock!
