Historian's Message

Ah yes, 2026 to 2027. Another year destined to go down in ASHRAE history as one of the greatest yet! But how will future members remember us? Through vague memories and stories passed down over the years? No! Through documentation, carefully preserved in the cloud.

This year’s presidential theme is “Changing the Game: Retrofitting for Resilience,” which feels especially fitting for us as historians. Our role is, in many ways, about resilience too. How do we make sure the work, milestones, people, and memories of today stand the test of time?

ASHRAE is more than 130 years old, and the Southern California Chapter, the oldest in Region X, is now 96 years strong. We have a lot of history behind us and plenty more being made right now.

So let’s honor the past, document the present, and make sure the future knows exactly how Region X changed the game.

PAOE
And of course, what would an ASHRAE year be without a few points to chase? PAOE points help recognize the work our chapters are already doing, so document those accomplishments, submit them, and make sure your chapter gets the credit it deserves. Below are the points applicable to us as historians!
