We had a great Region X turnout at the Winter Conference last month, especially from Student Members! Golden Gate Chapter: $39,000 in Scholarships!

The Golden Gate Chapter has set up the Eric Thor Andresen Memorial Scholarship Fund (ETAMSF). Up to 11 recipients will win anywhere from $1,500 to $7,800 each. LeaDRS Program Recap

This year, I had the privilege of representing Region X as our LeaDRS candidate. Through the LeaDRS program, I shadowed Region X DRC, Marites Calad, through her meetings at the ASHRAE Winter conference in Chicago. Through shadowing Marites at her meetings, I was able to see the society from a different perspective. We attended a DRC meeting where I saw firsthand struggles and successes that other regions have, and a planning meeting where a committee of highly qualified ASHRAE members were discussing the upcoming strategic plan for the society. The Youth Outreach Award is given annually to an ASHRAE member who actively engages a youth audience in their country, region or local community through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities. Student Branch Meeting at UNLV

The Student Branch at the University of Nevada Las Vegas just had a fantastic first meeting. They had a total of 16 in attendance, with two professors providing technical presentations. CHICAGO UPDATE On behalf of the Region X Nominating Committee, we are excited to report that we had a very productive meeting at the 2018 Winter Conference in Chicago. As your regional representatives, Robert and I helped nominate the slate of candidates for the 2018-19 ASHRAE Board, which includes: President-Elect: Darryl Boyce Treasurer: Chuck Gulledge Vice Presidents: Julia Keen (2nd year), Mick Schwedler (2nd year), Farooq Mehboob, M. Dennis Knight New DALs: Katherine Hammack (Central Arizona Past President!!) and Sarah Maston As current President-Elect, Sheila Hayter will serve as Society President for SY18-19. President-Elect Training

Attention Region X Chapter President-Elects! Congratulations on reaching mid-year of your president-elect phase! I sure hope you are enjoying every minute of it and loving it! In preparation for our upcoming CRC and your chapter presidency, we will have our President-Elect Training (PET) on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 7am-3pm at the Courtyard Marriott LAX (6161 W.
