ASHRAE IS COMING TO LAS VEGAS … AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

For the first time ever ASHRAE will hold its Annual Winter Conference in Las Vegas from January 29 - February 2, 2011. The Winter Conference will, as always, be held in conjunction with the AHR Expo (the world's largest HVACR expo). The Southern Nevada ASHRAE Chapter has the honor (and responsibility) to be the Host Chapter for this Conference. We have formed our Host Committee from the Chapter membership, and this Committee has been working hard to plan many of the events that will occur during the Conference.

As good as they are, the Host Committee members cannot do everything that needs to be done, and soon we will need your help. During the Conference we will need volunteers to assist the Host Committee in handling our duties. In particular, we will need to provide Monitors for each of the sessions that are part of the Technical Program (there will be approximately 120 technical sessions). We will also need to provide Monitors for the ASHRAE Learning Institute (ALI) Professional Development Seminars and Short Courses (there are approximately 8 courses); these Professional Development and Short Courses are either a half-day or full-day in length and present in-depth technical training on the course subject matter. We will also be seeking volunteers to assist in the ASHRAE Member lounge and to work the Information table. One of the advantages of volunteering to assist us is that your registration fee for the Conference (a $515 value) will be complimentary. However, in order to qualify for the complimentary registration you will need to commit to work at least one half day (but we would really appreciate it if you could volunteer more time than that!).

It might not seem like it, but January will be upon us sooner than you think …and we need to start making our plans and getting our volunteers lined up now! We will be posting an on-line sign-up sheet on the Region X web site as well as the Southern Nevada Chapter web site (www.ashraesn.com). We will be filling positions on a “first-signed-up first-accepted” basis, so don't delay in signing up for this opportunity!
